England Squad Twitter Handles

Wales v England (6 Nations Preview)

At 8 o’clock on Friday night (fine 8:05 if we’re being pedantic), this year’s RBS Six Nations kicks off with Wales – England at the the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. An England squad hit by the injury bug will be underdogs against a strong Wales side.

England have been hit particularly hard in the second row, losing Courtney Lawes, Geoff Parling an Joe Launchbury, arguably their top 3 locks. In a move that hardly shows faith in backups Christian Day or Graham Kitchener, England’s second row cover on Friday night will be provided by a combination of flanker Tom Croft (8 premiership appearances in 2 years since last England cap) and Number 8 Nick Easter (hasn’t played for England since 2011).

While some may complain at yet another centre partnership, it is pleasing to see Lancaster reward Jonathan Joseph’s impressive club form with an opportunity in the 13 shirt, as we already know what we’ll get out of a centre partnership of Billy Twelvetrees and Luther Burrell, and it’s hardly world beating.

I’m predicting a Wales victory, albeit in a loser game than many might be expecting. If Wales do come out on top on Friday then I expect them to go on and claim a first Grand Slam since 2012, with England finishing as runners up, and Italy taking home the Wooden Spoon.

RBS Six Nations: Wales v England; Venue: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff; Date: Friday, 6 February; Kick-off: 20:05.
